Milk Stout (Left Hand Brewing Company
Personally, I find this much-lauded stout a little meh. Young's Double Chocolate is a much more satisfying drink.

Youngs Double Chocolate Stout
A more satisfying chocolate stout. More bitter and tastier than others I have had. Not sure how it stacks up against the Swedish Choko Stout. But pretty impressive and nicely substantial to drink

Helles Schlenkera Lagerbier
Boiled in the same copper kettles and fermented by the same yeast as Schlenkera smokebeer , this is a somewhat lighter version of the real deal, as it were. Lighter in alcohol content too at 4.3%. I have to say I find it quite underwhelming compared to its smokey sibling.

Saltaire Triple Chocoholic
Enjoyable , rather bitter chocolate stout. Apparently a recent winner of best world beer, I would rate this highly albeit slightly below Swedish Choko Stout.

Aecht Schlenkera Rauchbier
For some time now (I think about eighteen months) this smokedbeer has been my beer of choice. From what the label informs me is the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bamberg, this is certainly a strong taste. I am trying to avoid the pseudo oenological ( AutoCorrect gives penological) vocabulary of some beer reviews I've come across online. This is an intense , smoky beer. I have only had it as a bottle or two at home - I wonder what a night out on it would be like.

L.A. Lager
So the verdict ... a little disappointing. Reasonably strong initial taste, quite a fruity and to my palate "chemically" (horror of horrors for craft brewers I know, and I'm well aware of the conceptual absurdity of describing any taste as "chemically" but there you go) aftertaste.
I had it with Mexican food rather than a burger (this was brewed specifically for a Copenhagen burger joint) and I suppose I wouldn't say no to another if

offered, but I wouldn't be going out of my way to have it either.
Intro post
This is as much for my interest as any global interest - a diary of adventures in beer drinking. By which I mean the occasional bottle of craft/imported/whatever beer I have every so often. I support responsible drinking etc.
